On June 19-21 of this year, within the framework of the EU funded two-year twinning project "Strengthening Parliamentary Oversight in Public finance" between the Parliament of Georgia and the National Academy for Finance and Economics of the Netherlands, the head of Austria’s Parliamentary Budget Office (PBO), Helmut Berger visited the Parliament of Georgia.
The Austrian expert conducted the training on gender budgeting, which was attended by the staff of the PBO Georgia, representatives of the Permanent Parliamentary Gender Equality Council and the Parliamentary staff.
Within the three-day training, the expert shared the Austrian experience and specifically the Austrian PBO’s practice in terms of gender budgeting with the Georgian colleagues. It should be noted that Austria, where the commitment to gender budgeting is stipulated by the country's constitution, is one of the most advanced countries in this regard.
